Bingham Ray, S.F. film fest director, hospitalized

Bingham Ray, S.F. film fest director, hospitalized - San Francisco Film Society Executive Director Bingham Ray has been hospitalized in Provo after suffering two strokes last week while attending the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City.

Ray, who took the reins of the San Francisco International Film Festival on Nov. 7, had a mild stroke Thursday and a second stroke Friday that one of his daughters described to the entertainment blog the Wrap as "more serious."

He is receiving treatment in a Provo hospital with his wife, Nancy, son and two daughters at his side. Doctors are working to stabilize his condition, which film festival publicist Hilary Hart termed in "fluctuation," in hopes of seeing improvement in coming days.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Bingham for a speedy and full recovery and our sympathies go out to his family and his many friends and colleagues at Sundance and throughout the independent film world," Pat McBaine, festival board president, said in a statement.
